Editorial policy

Last updated 7 August 2026

FREED publishes educational content to help people understand nicotine withdrawal, cravings and options for getting support. It is not medical advice and it is not a substitute for a qualified healthcare professional.

Who creates the content

Articles are produced by the FREED team. We do not present the team as doctors or claim that an article has been medically reviewed unless a named, qualified reviewer has actually reviewed it.

How we choose sources

We prioritise public-health agencies, government health services, recognised medical organisations and peer-reviewed research. Article sources appear at the end of each page so readers can check the underlying guidance directly.

How we handle health claims

Health timelines are described as approximate because withdrawal and recovery vary. We avoid guarantees, invented precision and claims that a digital tool can replace treatment. Where evidence relates specifically to stopping smoking rather than all nicotine products, we label that distinction.

Translations

French, German and Spanish articles are prepared from the English publication set. We aim to preserve the meaning, cautions and source links, but we do not describe a translation as medically reviewed unless a named qualified reviewer has actually reviewed it. Corrections to the English article are carried across to translations as part of the editorial update process.

Corrections

Health guidance changes and links sometimes move. If you spot an error, unclear wording or a broken source, email support@freedfromnicotine.app with the article URL. We will investigate and update material errors.

Get professional help

A doctor, pharmacist or local quit service can help with treatment choices and individual symptoms. Seek urgent medical help if you are worried about severe or rapidly worsening symptoms.
